East Elementary School

Located at the corner of Seventh Street and Texas Avenue on the east end of Craig, East Elementary School sits atop a hill overlooking the community.

The School had 326 students in kindergarten through fourth grade in the 2007-08 school year. The School then had a staff of 44, including 18 full-time and 3 part-time teachers. . The School provides 14 regular classrooms, a technology center, a cafeteria, gymnasium, music room math and special education program.

The School earned an Academic Performance rating of Average in the 2007-08 Colorado School Accountability Report. Student-teacher ratios range from 14.6 to 16.1 to 1. The average years of teaching experience for the school is eight.

The School is also well known for its large children’s library.

East Elementary School endorses the developmental approach to education that focuses on the child first. The School’s staff believes in creating classrooms where learning is a natural process.

Parents and teachers work together to develop the whole child at East Elementary School. Meaningful communication between School and home is a goal at the School.

East Elementary School was constructed in 1959.
