Constructed in 1981, Ridgeview Elementary School is the newest of the three elementary Schools in Craig. The School is at 600 Westridge Road in the Ridgeview subdivision in west Craig. The two-story building houses students in kindergarten through fourth grades, with enrollment during the 2007-08 school year being about 237. The School then had a staff of 38, including 15 full-time teachers , two part-time teachers, and 14 paraprofessionals. Student-to-teacher ratios ranged from 14 to 17.8 to 1. In the most recent Colorado School Accountability Report for the 2007-08 school year, Ridgeview received an Average rating for is Academic Performance. The current principal is Julie Baker, who has been with the school since 2002. Her teachers have an average of 15 years' experience. Academic achievement, with a focus on literacy and math, is a top priority. The development of a positive self-concept while promoting student responsibility is emphasized throughout the School. Physical education, music, art and technology are also integrated into the learning experience to offer a balanced approach to educating the "whole child."
