In a move designed to financially bolster the South Routt School District, the middle and high schools have operated on one campus since the fall of 2003. At the same time, the sixth grade class then moved from the middle school to South Routt Elementary school in Yampa. The middle school thus currently consists of grades seven through eight. The school earned a High rating for its academic performace in the 2007-08 school Accountability Report. In the same school year, the school had 52 students enrolled. Its 16 staff members inclucded 2 full-time and 6 part-time teachers, making the student-to-teacher rations 14.7:1 and 9.4:1 for the seventh and eigth grades, respectively. The school's current principal is James Chamberlin, who has been with the school since 2001. His teachers have an average of eight years' experience.
