Strawberry Park Elementary School
See this School's Colorado Department of Education School Accountability Report: PDF *

Located a couple miles northwest of downtown Steamboat Springs, Strawberry Park Elementary School sits on the site of one of Routt County’s first Schools, the Fly Gulch Schoolhouse.

Strawberry Park

The large, red brick School shares its site with Steamboat Springs Middle School, which is directly on the opposite side of the parking lot the two Schools share.

Student enrollment for the 2006-07 school year was 492. The School serves kindergarten through fifth grade students. Strawberry Park Elementary School then had a total of 66 staff members, including 32 full-time and nine part-time teachers.

All Strawberry Park classrooms are equipped with cable television, videocassette recorders, overhead projectors and two or more computers. The School has a computer lab capable of supporting the School’s largest classes. Additional student-use computers are housed in the School’s atrium and are accessible to students before School and during lunch.

Strawberry Park has achieved notoriety in recent years for its success on Colorado’s School Accountability Report, a state accountability tool used to gauge individual School performance and compare that performance to other Schools from around the state. The state again rated Strawberry Park's Academic Performance as Excellent for the 2007-08 school year. An excellent rating is the highest rating handed out by the state.

Parents are actively involved with the School - more than 125 parents are weekly volunteers. The School’s active Parent-Teacher Information Committee, which serves in much the same capacity as a parent-teacher association, raises money for School programs and stays abreast of School issues.

Strawberry Park’s current principal is Brenda Barr. Her teachers have and average of 13 years' experience.
